The following are a few ways in which you can contribute.
1. Avoid using a desktop PC when a laptop is available Computers nowadays are widely used, with hundreds applications. If you can use a laptop instead of a regular desktop computer then do so, because laptops are up to 50% more energy efficient than regular desktop computers. There are also other positives to working on laptops; they are portable, which means you can take them anywhere with you and work and they’re cheaper.
2. If it’s close enough, walk It’s a terrible thing, but driving a car is equivalent to pollution. Much pollution of the environment is due to the the release of deadly gases through the burning of a vehicle’s fuel. Automobiles are used worldwide daily, so overall they emit a lot of gases that are detrimental to the environment. If we all walked instead of drive just once each day, we’d make a sizable change for the better. Try walking whenever the opportunity presents itself, but don’t beat yourself up if it isn’t practical to do so. Next time you find yourself getting behind the wheel for a quick trip to the convenience store, try walking. Walking can help you relax, good for your health as well as that of the environment, and save you a little money to boot.
3. Try not to leave the faucet running when you’re brushing your teeth A great amount of water goes to waste each day, merely because we’re so accustomed to having running water. Avoid wasting water the next time you clean your teeth, don’t leave the water running. It’s a huge amount of water that comes out of the tap in the two minutes of recommended brushing time. What’s better is to put some water for rinsing your mouth in a glass ahead of time, so you aren’t wasting water.
4. Take a quick shower rather than long baths Have a shower instead of a bath, because it’s been determined to be more efficient in terms of both water and energy consumption. But be careful, if you take long showers, you’ll undo any good! If you are unable to make your shower short, you aren’t going to save water.
5. Try not to leave the lights on all of the time If you are going out of a room, try not to leave the light switched on. What’s the point of illuminating a room when it’s empty? Doing this is not merely good to the environment, but also to your bank account. When there’s sunlight outside, you should try to not use inside lights as the sunlight will provide lots of light to your home.
These green living tips are straightforward and cheap. Actually, they’ll most likely save you money. So answer the call – begin living green.
